Proper fin kicks will help you move easily through the water.  Varying your kick style will help keep your legs fresh and prevent cramps.  Remember, keep your arms relaxed and use your fins to move.
Flutter kick:
  • Kick from the hip, using the large muscles in your legs and buttocks instead of the small muscles around your knees.
  • Use a slower kick motion than you would while lap swimming.

You can also move around with a sidestroke kick, or on your back.  Remember, though, to keep the top of your snorkel out of the water!
