Now, what if you get water in your
snorkel?
No need to choke on it!
If you've got a breath in your lungs, just exhale sharply through
the snorkel.
Water will be forced down and out through the purge valve (if you
have one), or up and out through the top of the snorkel.
To clear that last little bit of persistent water, use this simple
trick:
Take a slow breath through your snorkel.
Pinch the flex section of the
snorkel shut.
Exhale sharply.
Don't have a big enough breath to clear
your snorkel? Here's how to get one, even though there's water in
your snorkel.
Look downwards so that the mouthpiece is lower than your teeth.
Inhale VERY gently and slowly. Air will bubble through the
water in your snorkel.
Let the incoming bubbles and water get screened out by your teeth.
As long as you are looking DOWN and inhaling gently, the water will
not get into your airway.
Take one or two breaths this way to fill your lungs, then blast
your snorkel clear as described above.
