Get back to the surface:
- When you're ready to ascend, be sure to
LOOK UP and all around as you come up.
- Keep one hand over your head to
protect your noggin just in case another snorkeler, or a kayak, or a turtle,
is above you as you rise.

|
Get your snorkel clear:
- Unless you have a
"dry" snorkel that seals off water from getting
in, you'll need to clear the water out of your snorkel once at the
surface.
- The "blast" method works just fine (you learned it while surface
snorkeling), but you can also try the "displacement" method.
- As you ascend, exhale a small amount into your snorkel as you near
the surface.
- This air will force out the water, and as you break the surface,
there will be little or no water in the snorkel.
- Always take a cautious first breath, and clear any residual water
with a gentle blast.

| Rest, and do it again! Remember, only one member of a buddy team
should be underwater at a time, just in case someone needs help. Take
turns, and enjoy yourself! |

Congratulations! Now it's time to hit the water! |
