Product Care Tips
Proper care of your equipment will keep it working for you for a long time. Follow these tips to get the most out of your investment in quality snorkeling or swimming gear from iSnorkel.com. Read the Owner's Manual and/or care label for your equipment and follow these guidelines.

Wetsuits and neoprene products:

  • Rinse in fresh water after each use. Salt, chlorine, body oils, sweat, and algae-laden water can prematurely age or fade neoprene (or make it smell bad).
  • Hang up to dry in a shady, well-ventilated place on a wide-shouldered plastic wetsuit hanger. To speed drying, first hang inside out, then switch to right side out when the inside is dry. Store on the hanger to reduce creases.
  • After a snorkeling trip, or every few uses in a pool, clean with wetsuit shampoo to clean, deodorize, and condition the neoprene.
  • Never machine wash or dry neoprene items. Doing so will prematurely age the neoprene, and may damage the seams.

Rashguards, boardshorts, and lycra products:

  • Rinse in fresh water after each use. Salt, chlorine, body oils, sweat, and algae-laden water can prematurely age or fade these materials.
  • After rinsing, hang or lay flat to dry in a shady, well-ventilated place.
  • Read the care label in your garments - different materials require different care to maintain their appearance and performance.
  • Generally, the gentlest care includes hand washing in mild detergent or wetsuit shampoo, rinsing in cool water and hanging to dry. Machine washing should only be used sparingly, or for items that cannot be cleaned sufficiently by hand washing, as machine washing may cause premature fading, aging, or color bleeding in lycra or stretch products.

Masks, Fins, and Snorkels:

  • Before using a new mask that has tempered glass lenses, thoroughly scrub the inside of the lenses with SeaBuff to remove manufacturing residue.
  • Masks with polycarbonate or plastic lenses should ONLY be cleaned with mild hand or dish soap, NEVER anything even mildly abrasive.
  • Apply a small amount of defog to the inside of each lens, rub around with your finger, and rinse off the excess before each time in the water to minimize fogging.
  • Rinse in fresh water after each day of use. Allow to dry and store in protective case.
  • Occasionally clean with mild hand or dish soap to keep mask looking fresh.

Accessories:

  • Rinse everything in fresh water after use.
  • Store in a clean, well-ventilated area.
